methods used

I utilize a variety of methods to support emotional, physical, mental & spiritual health.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS combines & traditionally moves back & forth using dance, movement, drawing, music, and creative writing to support self-expression and growth. It is a means for accessing and relating to aspects of ourselves that otherwise might not be experienced.  Similar to dreaming, when approached skillfully the symbols of our art leads to insight, offering relief, understanding, illumination, and connection. It is therapeutic without being therapy.

THE LIFE/ART PROCESS® (LAP) developed by dance pioneer, Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin, is a movement-based approach that serves as a vital method for establishing health and well-being in individuals, groups and communities. The LAP® believes there is an essential connection between art and life ~ that our real life experiences feed the art we create, and our art can then inform the real issues in our lives – this is the Life/Art Process®

SOMATIC MOVEMENT brings awareness to our patterned movements and postures by tuning into the wisdom of the body and senses. As a result, the work facilitates improved vitality and performance, expanded creative expression and integrated personal transformation in our daily lives.

COMPASSIONATE COMMUNICATION AND NVC assumes that we all share the same, basic human needs, and that each of our actions are a strategy to meet one or more of these needs.  Through the practice of NVC, we can learn to clarify what we are observing, what emotions we are feeling, and what we want to ask of ourselves and others. We will no longer need to use the language of blame, judgment or domination. We can experience the deep pleasure of contributing to each others' well being.  The form is simple, yet powerfully transformative.

A variety of  NVC techniques are taught & integrated into other arts modalities during workshops, groups, retreats, individual sessions and creative consultations.

I am a Life/Art® Practitioner, Registered Expressive Arts Consultant/Educator (REACE) and Registered Somatic Movement TherapistI am committed to educating, inspiring, and promoting emotional, physical, mental & spiritual health. I believe within each of us are the seeds of transformation, the resources to our dilemmas. This work reconnects us to our body and intuition so that we may be present and increase our capacity to be with what is.

I trust myself and I trust your own wisdom and power to heal and create.

“In the entrance the client leaves the troubled logic of everyday life

and enters the logic of imagination…

Creativity is sometimes explained as an ability that allows people to discover

a new solution to an old problem”.

– Paolo Knill
